The winter months seem to cause skin problems for a lot of folks. Dry skin, dry scalp... rashes on kids. I've never been one to have too many issues, until this year that is.
The other day at work, I happened to pull my bangs back off of my face and was shocked to find an extremely dry scalp. I mean, cradle cap dry! Yuck!
I knew something had to be done. So, I carefully arranged my bangs to cover it up and ran home to treat my scalp to some tlc. When I got home I quickly realized that we were out of coconut oil. Would you believe it? We actually used it all up cooking.
So what did we ever do before cocanit oil became the go-to home remedy for, well, everything? For hair, anything from Mayo and avocado, to Olive Oil.
We didn't have any avocados on hand and although I do enjoy Mayo, the thought of it in my hair turned my stomach just a bit. So I opted out for EVOO (extra virgin olive oil).
What you will need...
- Olive Oil (any will do)
- Shower cap
Let your hair down and very gently massage with your fingers and nails. This step will loosen any dry ickys.
Put a a healthy amount of olive oil in you hand and proceed to massage it into your scalp. This took several applications to get my entire scalp.
This felt really good, didn't get messy, and was actually a lot of fun... as you can see.
Olive Oil is also absolutely fabulous for the entire length of your hair. It repairs split ends and gives hair the moisture that it loses in those dry winter months.
I took a few handfuls of EVOO and lathered my hair when I was done with my scalp.
Next, you will need to get out your sexy shower cap.I used the one hubby brought back from his Paris hotel room as a gag gift. Score!
Now all you need to do is roll up your hair into a bun. Pop the shower cap over your hair, and got to sleep.
In the morning, rinse out the Olive Oil with your regular shampoo and conditioner.
Voila! No more dry scalp!
Oh, ladies and gents, enjoy your sexy shower capped selves!
