Race, Diversity and Inclusivity Conversations with Your Children

In light of everything going on in the world today, I would like to invite you to help. For parents, it is as simple as holding sustained, intentional and meaningful dialog with your children.

It is very much understandable that you as parents, may be completely out of your comfort zone. As an uncomfortable parent, I'm here to tell you, it's easier than you think.

I was worried about teaching my boys about race, and taking away their blissful innocence. But with conversation came understanding, and a child's pure outlook on a frightening situation. I encourage you to begin having age appropriate conversations with your children.

I found children's books to be an easy segue into these immensely important conversations, and have compiled a list to help.

I know it's not easy to run out and buy a ton of children's books, libraries are still closed do to Covid-19, and lets face it, we don't all have the means or the time. So this list, is a list of YouTube links where you can find each of these incredible books.

I hope these wonderful books help to open the door to conversation. Enjoy story time!
