There are two wonderful hotels we have stayed at several times and will do so over and over. Both are perfect for romantic getaways, girls weekends, and certainly travel with children. Our boys love both.

The San Diego Mission Bay Resort and the Hyatt Mission Bay provide some of the best accommodations for family travel. With spacious rooms, relaxing amenities, and convenient location, these two hotels offer a great place to rest after a day of exploring the city, and provide a fun right on their property.

Getting Around

When planning a weekend getaway with the family to Mission Bay San Diego, it's important to consider how you will get around during your stay. There are several transportation options to explore, from renting a car to taking an Uber, Lyft, or taxi.

Rental Car: Renting a car is a great way to explore Mission Bay San Diego during your weekend getaway. This option gives you the freedom and flexibility to come and go as you please, and you can even stop to pick up supplies on the way if needed.

Uber/Lyft: If you don't want the hassle of driving around town in a rental car, you can use Uber or Lyft instead. Both services have reliable drivers who can get you where you need to go quickly and easily.

Taxi: A taxi is another option for getting around Mission Bay San Diego during your family travel. This can be more expensive than Uber or Lyft, but it's a great way to ensure that you can get to your destination on time.

We have always made this a road trip from Los Angeles, so we usually have our own vehicle with us. And while we love the freedom of getting around as we please, quite often, we prefer to stay on property and enjoy what each of these resort style hotels has to offer.

No matter which method of transportation you choose, it's important to make sure that your family is safe at all times. Be sure to plan ahead so that you can get from point A to point B without any issues.

Tips for Traveling with Kids

When planning a family trip to Mission Bay San Diego, it is important to plan ahead and be prepared for anything that could come your way. One of the most important things to consider when traveling with kids is how to keep them entertained throughout the duration of the trip.

Bringing bathing suits no matter the time of year is always a good idea, especially when traveling to California. And with the heated pools and all of the outdoor activities, it would be difficult to avoid any water play.

Pack plenty of snacks, even though both hotels have shops and restaurants on property. It's always a good idea to travel with your kids’ favorite snacks.

Lastly, make sure to plan plenty of activities that your entire family will enjoy. From visiting SeaWorld San Diego, to exploring Belmont Park, there are plenty of family-friendly activities to choose from for your California travel adventure. Enjoy your weekend getaway!
